The statue of MURASAKI-SHIKIBU
Produced by cultural Medal laureate        SOUZOU
Featuring her beauty and brightness on the face.

Tracing a point of eyes of SHIKIBU who looks towards the old capiatal,the brow of Mt.Hino can be seen,especially beautiful scnenery would be assured.

SHIKIBU was so statled to see the snow piling up for the time in her life after she came to Takefu she was compelled to compare the difference of districts.

She managed to stand out the contrast between rual area and urban city bringing up pine and ceda trees with snow.

TSU-DONNO(a fishing house)

A pavilion over the pond reproduced in the bank is a total HINOKI(cypress) structure.

This was where then aristocrats enjoyed viewing the moon and snow,playing GAGAKU (ancient court music)and writing poems among them.

this was also a platform for the boats.

This pond is recreated long from east to west so that the moon can be reflected on the surface.

Sitting there and looking at trees and moon,try to feel the chage of th seasons while you intend to have become a noble of th HEIAN era.

春なれど・・

Although spring has come

It’s been still snowing and has piled up at Mt.HAKUSAN.

My heart goes on to you and has pilled up like snow.

I wonder when my mind would be lifted off.

Cast ashore to WAKASA,SOUJIN were accommodated at MATSUBARA Visitors House.

This is the poetry for answering the letter from FUJIWARA NOBUTAKA,husband of SHIKIBU,who wrote,”I would like to go and see SOUJIN in spring”

身のうさは・・

Even though I’ve got into the Imperial Court

My sorrow still lingers

And so does my heart

Confused in many layers of my body.

The song she wrote when she servesd empress AKIKO of the Emperor ICHIJO.

Put in a completely different circumstances,she wondered about how life would go. 

ここにかく・・

The first snow on the cedar grove of the Mt.HINO

Reminds me of the pine trees at OSHI-O in KYOTO

Makes me wonder if the snow were piling up.
